A refined balance between warm and cool materials
Back in October 2024, the young couple Elina-Maria Winther, her husband Carsten, and their two children bought a 1950s house in a villa neighborhood in Brøndby. The house, which had been home to an elderly couple for over 50 years, required a loving hand and a modern upgrade.

The couple carried out the entire renovation themselves, and with Elina’s sharp visual thinking and moodboard strategy combined with her husband’s craftsmanship, they had a clear vision from the very beginning of what they wanted to achieve with the villa. The result is a complete example of modern minimalism, where materials, light, and clean lines play beautifully together.
The kitchen is designed with a refined balance between warm and cool materials: the dark Semplice fronts in smoked oak add depth and warmth, while the sculptural Semplice kitchen island in brushed steel makes a striking architectural statement and reflects light elegantly. All interiors of the kitchen cabinets are made in oak, creating a streamlined sense of warmth and exclusivity.
Electricity has been integrated into the island so that all kitchen appliances can be hidden away and connected directly. With storage on all sides, the island easily accommodates everything a family of four needs to keep at hand. The Semplice back wall in smoked oak features hidden handles in the top row of drawers and push-open drawers in the bottom row. A Bora cooktop with integrated extractor, steel built-in appliances, and a steel countertop to complete the streamlined expression.

The interior is characterized by classic design icons that add discreet elegance without stealing the focus – a design language that feels both timeless and contemporary. The overall impression is a home with an international atmosphere, where every detail has been carefully considered, and where simplicity, functionality, and aesthetics merge into a harmonious whole.
